What Do You Get When You Have a Room Full of Top Executives From Different Companies?

The power of collective wisdom.

As the Chair for one of the EGN Singapore (Executives' Global Network) Executive Leadership Groups, itโ€™s my honour and pleasure to lead the discussion with this amazing group of Executives.

This time we talked about And we had a full house - 12 members and 2 special guest speakers.

In a rapidly evolving geopolitical and economic landscape, spurred on by the election of President Donald Trump 6 months ago, global governance has become a strategic imperative for Senior Leaders. This session explored how organizations can effectively navigate increasing complexity, cross-border regulatory shifts, stakeholder capitalism, and ESG expectations. We examined emerging governance models that balance global consistency with local agility, while addressing transparency, accountability, and ethical decision-making.

Through the collective wisdom of this group of Executive Leaders, we came up with several real examples and strategies to future-proof organizational and governance systems for risk reduction and value creation.

Some of the highlights were:

How does it become a C-Level agenda (they are still focused on shareholders only)? Future-proofing needs to think long-term, not just now; decision-making needs to be holistic and top board level.

๐—”๐—ฑ๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—˜๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—–๐—น๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—œ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€ โ€“ We need to focus on the environment and climate, but itโ€™s always too expensive to do it. How do we educate people (even kids now donโ€™t know how to recycle)? Regulations (and fines) are necessary or companies wonโ€™t do it; this is the only way they will do it.

๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—”๐—œ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฝ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—˜๐—ฆ๐—š ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—š๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ โ€“ If companies are chasing the regulations, they will just do the bottomline only. Companies are looking at leveraging AI to help with ESG and governance, but this uses high amounts of energy. There needs to be a balance and more energy-efficient AI.

All these ideas came from the collective wisdom of this group of amazing Leaders, when we put our heads and hearts together to come up with new ways of thinking.

It was an incredible session indeed.

And what about you? Which of these strategies resonate with you the most? Or do you have any other strategies that would work to future-proof organizational systems and global governance?
